Uruguayian Extravaganza

What looked to be a lovely overcast day last Saturday, turned out to be a very blustery day. It was so windy in fact (mostly out on the water - Rio Della Plata) that instead of taking a 4 hour ferry to Montevideo, we ended up sitting in the ferry terminal for 3 hours and then were detoured to Colonia, Uruguay (a 1 hour boat ride). We then took a 2 hour bus ride to Montevideo. Sufficeth to say, we were very very late.

While sitting in the ferry terminal multiple announcements were made that were not understood. When they were made in English, everyone was talking too loudly for us to understand. We even got in the first class line not knowing what it was. But in our defense, they changed the rules on us and loaded all the "tourist" class through the car hold (there was a huge mass of people all trying to get into the same small door, but we made it).

Our bus ride did give us a lovely view of the Uruguay countryside and we were happy to at least be in the right country. Once we arrived in Montevideo, we continued to see multiple monuments/statues in all the plaza's around town. Below are just a few (I believe bigger is considered better in Uruguay):



On Sunday after church, we also were taken on a drive around the coast and saw some more wonderful scenes:
